ALJUR Abrenica probably didn’t have any inkling that what he said in a interview about ABS-CBN would have a violent backlash against him. Aljur was discovered and honed by GMA-7 but after ten years, he felt dissatisfied so he left and moved to ABS-CBN where he was given some soaps. Now that ABS-CBN’s operations have been shut down because Congress didn’t renew their franchise, Aljur was asked about it and his answer was: “It’s beyond me. Their fight is their fight.”
But naturally, this dismayed a lot of people sympathetic to the Kapamilya Network. They think he is so insensitive considering that thousands of employees are about to be retrenched next month. Jet Valle of ABS-CBN said: “Guwapo sana kaya lang bobo, makasarili, masama ang ugali.” And Noel Ferrer said: “You don’t bite the hands that feed you.” While Keiko Aquino, ABS-CBN writer, wrote: “Hindi ka na nga magaling. Sana naging mabuti ka na lang,”
But this is not something new for Aljur, who really has a way of turning people off. Most of them are now happy that his career didn’t really soar. We’ve interviewed him several times when he was with GMA and he can be really quite arrogant, feeling entitled, unlike Alden Richards who obviously is more good-natured, well-bred and has a much better PR.
As one writer said: “Inggit na inggit kasi siya noon kay Alden Richards na ni hindi man lang nakapasok as finalist sa Starstruck pero sumikat nang husto at napakarami nang endorsements. E, siya, naturingang winner, but his career didn’t really prosper the way he wanted it to. He was given several soaps and several movies. Nag-title role pa siya sa isang historical movie, ‘Hermano Pule’, pero big flop naman.”
The people behind the movie he is making better do some damage control right away because his presence in their movie will surely be not of any help to it at the box office. Someone said he just played it safe with his statement, because his father-in-law, Robin Padilla, is an avowed Duterte supporter.
