ARJO Atayde says he’s curious as to how the public would accept him in his first romantic lead role in Regal’s romcom, “Stranded”. “Nasanay kasi sila na bad ako, contravida, at first time kong ako ang bida in a love story like this, so I’m hoping matanggap naman nila ako in ‘Stranded’ kasi maganda talaga ang movie,” he adds. “This is the first I’m working with Jessy Mendiola and our director, Ice Idanan. The story is about two strangers who get stranded inside a warehouse one stormy night and how it changed their lives.”

How is it working with Jessy and Direk Ice? “Jessy and I have known each other for quite some time and it helps that we’re friends, so we became quickly comfortable right from the start. Walang ilangan. A big part of the movie shows us just talking with each other and it’s good we have good rapport, otherwise, I think the film’s premise about two strangers relating with each other one rainy night might not work. As for Direk Ice, she’s young so it’s easier to relate with her. Jessy and I are both thankful because she’s open to suggestions. We both have our own ideas on how to interpret our characters and she listens, she’s very collaborative.”

Arjo is so lucky that both his career and his love life are doing exceedingly well. Aside from “Stranded”, he’s the only actor now with two TV series going on simultaneously, “The General’s Daughter” and “Bagman”. With regard to his lovelife, it’s common knowledge that he’s now playing beautiful music with Maine Mendoza and they don’t hide it at all.

“Right now, I’m just really very, very happy,” he says. “I cannot complain at all.”

Arjo wants to clarify that he and Maine are just exclusively dating and not yet officially on yet. They’ve been seen dating out several times, dining together or going to Star City.  They were last seen together at the grand alumni

homecoming of the College of St. Benilde, where Maine took up HRM, majoring in culinary arts, held at The Palace in Bonifacio Global City. Maine has introduced him to her parents and he admits being scared at the start.

“Well, of course, I think every guy naman would be scared to meet the family of the girl he’s courting, but I faced my fears as I want to show na malinis ang intention ko. Okay naman sila. They were very nice to me and I’m happy I did it.”
