ASHLEY Ortega plays a villain role to Bianca Umali in “Sahaya” whose character will start appearing this week with Migo Adecer as Jordan. “I play Lindsay, anak ni Tito Zoren Legaspi,” she says. “Inaapi ko si Bianca as Sahaya without knowing that we have the same father pala.”
At 5’6”, Ashley is tall and statuesque enough to qualify in a beauty pageant. Has joining one entered her mind? “Marami nga ang nagsasabi na mag-join ako, but I’m only 20 now, so siguro, I need to wait muna and be a bit more mature. Maybe kapag college graduate na ako. I’m now enrolled sa School of Fashion and Arts at siguro, magtatapos muna ako bago ako mag-attempt na maging beauty queen.”
She seems so physically fit. What does she do? “I wake up early and run sa U.P. Oval bago uminit ang araw. Hindi kumpleto ang araw ko kapag hindi ako nakapag-jogging. I also do muay thai and pole dancing, for flexibility. Before, I also did ice skating and I won three times sa competition abroad. But I stopped when I joined showbiz. Hinahanap-hanap ng katawan ko ang pagwo-work out, e. It’s already part of my system.”
She’s happy to be part of a show like “Sahaya” that helps enlighten viewers about our fellowmen who are from indigenous tribes like the Badjaws portrayed in the show. “‘Sahaya’ shows the culture and lifestyle of the Badjaws, which is very rich, and it’s only proper na malaman ng public, ng viewers ang tungkol sa kanilang buhay,” she adds.
