BARBIE Forteza declared when she did “Kara Mia” with Mika de la Cruz, who played her sister, that they have formed a beautiful friendship while doing the show. How about now that she and Kate Valdez play sisters in “Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday”, which is now on a new time slot shown after “Descendants of the Sun” and before “Love of My Life”, how would she call their relationship now?
“Nagkaroon din kami agad ng connection ni Kate kasi sa start pa lang ng taping namin, nag-out of town locations na kami sa Tacloban in Leyte and later sa Ilocos region,” she says. “Papunta pa lang doon, nag-bonding na kami and siyempre, while we’re taping there, kuwentuhan kaya mas naging close kami agad.”
So how would she compare Kate to Mika? “Ay, unfair namang mag-compare. When it comes to people, I never want to compare. Kasi ako mismo, ayoko nung feeling na ikino-compare ako sa iba. So bakit ko naman gagawin yun sa kanila? Bawat isa sa atin, may kanya-kanyang katangian at personality, magkakaiba tayo ng ugali at goals sa buhay, so it’s useless to make comparisons. Basta ang importante, friends ko sila pareho. Both of them, nagkaka-sunod kami, on and off camera.”
They’re just happy now that their show is getting very good feedback from the viewers. “Nagte-trending kami, ang gaganda ng comments sa social media, so we are encouraged na mas pagandahin ang trabaho namin. Even our senior co-stars, si Tita Snooky Serna as my mother and si Tita Dina Bonnevie as Kate’s mom, kasundo namin. On screen, magkaaway sila kasi nag-agawan sila noon sa naging father namin ni Kate, played by Mr. Jay Manalo, but sa set, masaya kami lagi. Happy set kami.”
