MAINE Mendoza figured in a freak accident on the set of “Eat Bulaga” a few days ago. It didn’t happen on camera as it happened during a commercial intermission. She, along with co-hosts Ryan Agoncillo, Pia Guanio, Paolo Ballesteros and Jose Manalo were being briefed on what they will do in the next “Bawal Judgmental” segment with Maine seated on the metal railing of a stairway on stage when she slid down and fell.
The whole sequence was recorded on video and it is now posted on Maine’s social media account. Also posted are some still photos, along with one shot showing a part of her thigh that is black and blue from the fall. Her co-host quickly helped in getting up and later, they were joking about it.
Ryan quipped while hosting later: “Kumbaga sa natisod, babangon uli.” And Maine quickly retorted: “Totoo yan! Relate!” And she laughed heartily knowing that the joke is on her. Maine says that her bruised thigh is still painful up to now.
Meanwhile, she’s celebrating her 5th anniversary in showbiz this coming Saturday (July 4, Independence Day in the U.S.A.) and All Access to Artists or Triple A, the company who’s managing her, will help her celebrate it in “Eat Bulaga”. It was on July 4th five years ago when she first appeared in the show doing dubsmash (for which she got famous on Youtube) and became known as the hilarious Yaya Dub.
Later on, she’ll meet Alden Richards and their love team will be known as AlDub. The rest, as they say, is history. She went into acting and did other TV shows, also movies, and became a much sought-after commercial endorser for various products.
Aside from the anniversary celebration in “Eat Bulaga”, Maine will also have a virtual celebration for all her fans. You can check this out on her Facebook page on Saturday at 8 PM so you can celebrate it with her. Maine is also seen regularly in the sitcom "Daddy's Gurl" with Vic Sotto every Thursday night, written and directed by Chris Martinez.
