SIBLINGS Kent and Pam Gonzales are so happy that in the very first movie they made in their entire life, “Kuwaresma”, they play the kids of Sharon Cuneta no less. Kent is the one who auditioned with Reality Entertainment and quickly impressed Direk Erik Matti.
“Sa audition, you can see he’s very raw, kasi nga he has had no previous acting experience at all,” says Direk Erik. “But you can see ginagamit niya 'yung utak niya, so Dondon Monteverde and I chose him to play Sharon’s son. The first scene he shot is iyakan scene agad with Sharon. Alam mong kabado siya, but hindi siya nagpaiwan kay Sharon, he delivered. We had difficulty looking for an actress who’ll play his twin sister. Then he said, may kapatid po akong babae. Sabi ko, bakit hindi mo sinabi agad? So we called Pam at 'yun, perfect sila for the roles of Sharon’s children. They’re not really twins in real life, but dito you’d believe na kambal sila with a special and strange connection with each other. Pam has played bit role in teleseryes, but pareho nilang first movie ito. They’re both revelations here.”
“We really feel so lucky, so blessed, so honored to be part of ‘Kuwaresma’,” says Pam. “The moment pinatawag nila ako, sobrang bilis, nag-shoot na agad, and now that we’ve finished the movie, I feel I’m still on Cloud 9.”
“For someone like me na wala pang karanasan sa acting, big learning experience ang pinagdaanan ko in ‘Kuwaresma’,” says Kent. “And it’s been a thrilling and fulfilling experience working with big stars like Sharon Cuneta and John Arcilla. They were a big help to us ng kapatid ko and they really guided us in interpreting our roles. This will remain unforgettable for me for the rest of my life.”
Sharon vouches that Kent and Pam are really good in the movie. “They may be new but they delivered,” she says. “Lumalabas ang tunay na emosyon ko bilang isang ina in my scenes with them and I really treated them like my own.”
Their parents are both based abroad and got excited when they found out they’re in a big movie. “Uuwi po sila sa Manila sa premiere night to watch it with us,” says Pam.
