OUR story on Arnold Clavio drew positive reactions from various quarters lauding him for telling the truth. Dr. Dindo Nuguid Castro wrote us in our Facebook account: “The day after Igan’s expose on the alleged cadavers in a government hospital, a senator sent body bags to East Avenue Medical Center and a company donated a freezer trailer for the cadavers. On that day, the Dept. of Health recorded the highest single day death so far, which was 50 persons. Igan was also the one who exposed the impending crisis inside the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), a week before Atom Araullo did.”
Then Ali Sotto also sent us a message: “The whistleblower from the National Center for Mental Health came to me, not to Arnold. After media picked it up, she was transferred to Las Pinas. She suffered an injustice and her case was cited in one of the ‘whereas’ clauses of the Senate resolution calling for Duque to resign.”
The said NCMH administrative officer is Dr. Clarita Avila who reported that 6 patients being treated for mental illness has been tested as corona positive and three of them already died. She added that there are also 297 patients who are under investigation. She also decried the lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies in the NCMH.
She later confirmed that she was reassigned to the Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation Center in Las Pinas last April 14 after her expose on the corona virus situation in the mental health institution. She said a gag order was also issued to her by Dr. Roland Cortez, Medical Center Chief. Her re-assignment was relayed to her in a letter by Undersecretary of Health Roger Tong-An.
