THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public against consuming “violative” products that may pose health risks.
The FDA also issued the same warning against purchasing dietary supplements that are not registered with the agency.
The FDA identified food products they considered “violative” such as Demisoda Peach, Fanta Orange and Pineapple flavored sodas, Gudetama Cotton Candy Strawberry Flavor and Goldilocks Fun Bites Egg Square Crackers.
The FDA said they made verification through post-marketing surveillance on these food items and found that they were not registered and the Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) have not yet been issued in violation of the Republic Act No. 9711 or the “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009”,
RA 9711 states that the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization is prohibited.
“Since these unregistered food products have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers,” the agency said.
Manufacturers and sellers were also warned not to distribute violative food products until they have been issued the appropriate authorization, a License to Operate (LTO) for the establishment, and a CPR for the food products.
Meanwhile, the public were also advised from purchasing unregistered food supplements like POWER LAB Grape Seed Oil Extract, Spirulina Tablets (Brand in Foreign Characters), Ampalaya (Bitter gourd) Capsule, NATURE’S WAY Licorice Root Traditional Digestive Aid Dietary Supplement, and NATURE’S SECRET 15 Day Weight Loss Support Cleanse & Flush Dietary Supplement.
These products, the FDA added, have not gone through evaluation process and the agency cannot assure their quality and safety.
