A NOTORIOUS drug pusher with previous drug and homicide cases was killed in a shootout with policemen while his cohort was arrested during a buy-bust operation Friday afternoon in Valenzuela City.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. David Nicolas Poklay identified the slain suspect as Aldin Gallego, 37, of San Gregorio corner Independence Street, Bgy. Gen. T. de Leon while his cohort Marlon Torcuator, 41, of 5082 Independence St., was arrested after a brief exchange of gunfire.
Elements of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted the buy-bust operation at Torcuator’s house on Independence Street after a weeklong surveillance operation.
Gallego was shot after he handed a plastic sachet of shabu to PO1 Reggie Dellosa, and realizing the buyer was actually an officer, pulled out his .38 revolver and fired at the police team but missed. The suspect was hit in the exchange of gunfire while Torcuator was arrested. Gallego died at the Valenzuela Medical Center.
Also on Friday, authorities arrested 11 drug personalities in separate buy-busts and anti-gambling operations in Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas.
Joselito Esquillo, 26, and Ronnel De Mesa, 31, were arrested by elements of Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2 while playing cara y cruz on Lourdes Steet around 11:55 p.m. The two yielded two plastic sachets of shabu, P90 bet money and three one peso coins used in the illegal gambling.
In Malabon City, Charlie Carillo alias “Badoy,” 40, of Blk 28 Lot 58 Phase 2 Area 1, Bgy. NBBS, Navotas City, and his neighbor Joel Velamide, 43, were arrested in a drug sting around 11:30 p.m. on Dalagang Bukid Street, Bgy. Longos.
Malabon police chief Senior Supt. Jessie Tamayao said at least eight pieces of plastic sachets of shabu and buy-bust money were seized from them by elements of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU).
Earlier at around 10:30 p.m., Arcelito Daray, 40, and Teodoro Bornia, 63, were arrested by operatives of Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 1 at BMBA Compound, Bgy. 120, Caloocan City, while playing cara y cruz.
Two small plastic sachets of shabu, P110 bet money and three one peso coins used as “pangara” were confiscated from them.
Meanwhile, Gabby Gulapa, 37; Sandy Aderes, 27; and Randy Reyes, 38, were arrested on Balimbing Street, Gate 1 Amparo Subdivision, Bgy. 179, when members of PCP-4 swooped down the area during anti-illegal gambling operation.
In Navotas City, operatives of SDEU led by Chief Insp. Ilustre Mendoza arrested Mark Jerson Tamayo, 19; Janel Reyes, 28; and Froylan Jose, 39; in a buy-bust around 8:45 p.m. at Phase II Area 1, Dagat-Dagatan, Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS).
