AUTHORITIES arrested 10 notorious members of the “Budol-Budol Gang”, known for swindling senior citizens, right after they victimized an elderly woman Thursday afternoon in Makati City.
Makati police chief Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon identified the arrested suspects as Angelita Ditos, 52, of 33 Malibong 2 Matanda, Pandi, Bulacan; Mabelle Lopez, 42, of 8 Virra Ville Subdivision, Las Piñas City; Elenita Alba, 58, of 2372 Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas; Analyn Flores, 43, of San Nicolas, Bacoor, Cavite; Marie Cablo, 37, of Armstrong Village, Paliparan, Dasmariñas City, Cavite; Linda Marquez, 44, of Binakayan, Bacoor; Adelmo Ranas, 58, of Salinas, Bacoor; Ramon Bertuldo, 51, of St. Peter Dasma, Cavite; Jerry Apao, 59, of 473 Saging St., Las Piñas City; and Edgar Yabut, 60, of 1239 Sto. Niño, Tondo, Manila.
Earlier, Renante Domino, 42, security guard of Lockheed Security Agency assigned at the Plaza Drive Powerplant Mall in Rockwell, Poblacion, sought the assistance of Makati Police Community Precinct (PCP) 6 after he witnessed how the suspects swindled an old woman after convincing her to ride with them in their Isuzu Trooper van (XBP-109) at around 12:30 p.m.
The incident was caught on closed circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the area, prompting operatives of PCP-6 to conduct police operation. A brief chase happened until the suspects on board an Isuzu Trooper and Toyota Revo (WLH-369) were flagged down and arrested.
Recovered from them were bundles of fake money amounting to P250,000, fan knife, assorted jewelry, seven pieces of cellular phones, dollar money and different types of bags and wallets.
Victim Puratoryo Catalina, 70, of 2857-E Lumayan St., Sta. Ana, Manila, told police that the suspects befriended her and promised to double her money.
The suspects, who all admitted to swindling senior citizens, would be charged with syndicated (large-scale) estafa before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
