150 families left homeless in Navotas fire

AT least 150 families or more than 700 individuals lost homes to a fire that hit a residential area yesterday morning in Navotas City.

Navotas Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started in a house near Oliveros Street, Bgy. Tangos at around 7:30 a.m. and quickly spread to houses mostly made of light materials.

The blaze that reached third alarm was declared fire out at around 9:46 a.m. No one was reported injured or killed during the incident while arson investigators are still determining the damage to properties.

Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco, together with Vice Mayor Cline Geronimo, visited the area and ordered the local Social Welfare and Development Office to provide necessary assistance to the fire victims.

Mayor Tiangco also distributed relief goods, potable water, mat and blankets to the fire victims who were temporarily staying in Bgy. Tangos covered court.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
