THE 5th District of Quezon City has its first case of corona- virus (COVID-19).
Quezon City Rep. Alfred Vargas confirmed this and at the same time appealed to his constituents to remain calm and vigilant to avoid the spread of the dreaded virus.
Also on Friday, the Quezon City government declared a state of calamity, a status that allow local officials to utilize portion of its quick-response funds to address the COVID-19.
Quezon City is among the cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) that has many cases of COVID-19.
“The first case of COVID-19 in District V, Quezon City, has been confirmed by the City Health Department. I now ask you, my constituents, for your utmost cooperation and vigilance to help mitigate the spread of the pandemic — please stay at home and practice proper hygiene at all times. Please limit your outside activities,” Vargas said.
Details regarding the patient’s health status will be announced from time to time.
The solon then appealed to everyone in his district to participate in contact tracing, and to immediately consult health workers in the event that they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
“Hindi po ito panahon upang tayo ay matakot at panghinaan ng loob. Pakiusap po na huwag nating panglabanan ang mga kawani ng Department of Health at Philippine National Police kung tayo ay identified bilang Patient Under Investigation (PUI), lalo na kung kinakailangan tayong dalhin sa mga pasilidad ng ating gobyerno na mayroong intensified quarantine,” the solon added.
