THE bodies of two of the three children who were carried away by the strong current while playing in Tullahan River Sunday afternoon were found by rescuers yesterday before dawn in Valenzuela City.

Personnel of Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO) first found the body of 10-year-old Jillian Salud under the bridge at around 2:07 a.m. The victim was positively identified by his relatives based on his clothes.

At around 6:30 a.m. the body of Rheniel Tejadilla was discovered near the spot where Jillian’s body was found. Rheniel’s elder brother Kerby was still missing.

Nerissa Aquino of VCDRRMO said their search operation will continue along with divers of Philippine Coast Guard to find Kerby.

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the local government through the local City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) will extend necessary assistance to the family of the three children.

Police said the victims were playing near the river past 4 p.m. Sunday after typhoon Ompong reportedly left the Philippine area of responsibility, when the river suddenly rose  and carried the children away by the strong current.
