FOUR persons including two policemen and a Sangguniang Kabataan chairman were arrested by agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in two separate recent buy-bust operations, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino announced yesterday.
The official said that Police Officers 1 Pelboy Lopez and Ronelo Felizarta and civilian Ricsan Sale were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Macabug in Ormoc City last Friday.
The two policemen were described as ‘high-value’ drug targets in Ormoc City, he added. Aquino said that members of the PDEA Regional Office 8, the Ormoc City Police Station and the Army’s 802nd Brigade arrested the trio who yielded eight heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some P3,000 worth of shabu, several drug paraphernalia and the marked money.
A Glock 17 9mm semi-automatic pistol with two magazines were also confiscated from PO1 Lopez. The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 7 (Visitor of a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
An additional case for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 was also filed against Lopez.
On the other hand, John Carlos Fernandez, the SK chairman of Barangay Umangan in Mangatarem, Pangasinan was arrested in a buy-bust operation last Friday by members of the PDEA Regional Office 1.
