TWO-cornered fight for Navotas City’s top post is expected in the upcoming midterm elections following the filing of certificates of candidacy (CoCs) of Councilor Dan Israel Ang for mayor challenging Rep. Toby Tiangco, who will replace his younger brother John Rey, after they both ended their third and last terms.
Ang, popularly called “D.I.”, accompanied by his running mate Raymond Cruz and hundreds of supporters, filed his CoC Monday afternoon before the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) office on M. Naval Street, beside the local police headquarters at around 4 p.m.

The entire ticket of D.I. for councilors in District I composed of Essay Abella, Lito Sulit, Anne Margarette Gaa, Kyle Gonzales, Gian So and Levi Ayuda and District II composed of Amos Hechanova, Michael Bautista, Aljon Grutas, Gina Navarro, Waldy Punong Bayan ang Philip Del Rosario also filed their CoCs Monday afternoon.
Councilor Ang entered politics at the age of 25 in 2016 as an independent candidate and won as councilor of the 2nd district, second to Councilor Marielle del Rosario, who captured the highest votes.
