2 helpers held for stealing employer’s cash, jewelries

TWO newly-hired house helpers were nabbed by San Juan Police after they carted away around P1.5M worth of assorted jewelries and cash  from their employer in San Juan City.

In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director PBrig. Gen. Christopher Tambungan by San Juan Police chief PCol.Ariel Fulo, suspects were identified as  Lourdes De Asis, alias Lulu,  49,  and  Analyn Escari , alias Inday, 20, both stay-in helpers at No.105 Kennedy St., North Greenhills, Bgy. Greenhills, San Juan City.

Fulo said the two helpers were nabbed after they were complained by  their employer identified as Victoria Marzan, 58, after finding out that her assorted jewelries and cash placed inside her safety vault were missing.

Investigation conducted by SPO2 Dennis Ramos disclosed that on May 18 Manzan discovered that all her cash and assorted jewelries amounting to P1.5M were missing after there were stolen by her two newly-hired househelpers.

It was learned that De Asis and Escari left their employer on May 16 after the two decided to stop working from her.

The two were only hired a month ago upon the referral of one Meriam De Asis Ropaning, reportedly a relative of suspect De Asis.

Police said the employer immediately contacted Ropaning and told the incident who agreed to bring the maids at the Greenhills to talk with their employer.

But unknown to them the incident was already reported to the San Juan City Police Community Precint (PCP-1) who were positioned at the area.

The two were nabbed inside the fast food chain but denied stealing the employer’s cash and assorted jewelries.

Fulo warned residents to be wary of hiring househelpers.

The two suspects are now detained at San Juan City Police Custodial facility and  facing qualified theft charges.
