2 hurt in knife attacks in Navotas, Caloocan

TWO men were seriously wounded when they were stabbed in separate drinking sessions shortly before midnight yesterday and Sunday night in Navotas and Caloocan cities.

Jomari Cruz, 24, of Interior Sacristia St., Bgy. San Agustin, Malabon City, was still under observation at Navotas City Hospital after he underwent surgery for multiple stab wounds in the body.

Navotas police chief Senior Supt. Brent Milan Madjaco said Cruz and his friends Robin Lapeurza and Mario Morales were having a drinking session at around 12:20 a.m. along Bombero M. Naval St., Bgy. Sipac, Almazen, when the suspect, identified as Arsenid Ilagan Jr., 22, fisherman, of Block 28, Lot 10, Pabahay, Bgy. Tanza, suddenly appeared and for no apparent reason repeatedly stabbed the victim.

Elements of Navotas Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 immediately conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Earlier at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Jeffrey Montorio, 32, together with his friends and relatives were having a drinking session inside their house at 1919 San Antonio St., Area B, Bgy. 174, Camarin, Caloocan City, in celebration of his sister Rose Ann’s birthday when a certain alias “Tolits” of Area B, Bgy. 175, Camarin, barged in and sat beside the victim.

A few moments later, the suspect for unknown reason, hit the victim’s head with a wine glass and repeatedly stabbed him with the broken glass in the head and right arms.

The suspect fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.
