COMBINED agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Quezon City Police District yesterday arrested two suspected big-time Nigerian drug traffickers during a buy-bust operation and seized some 10 kilograms of shabu worth P68 million from the suspects.
PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino identified the suspects as Lawrence Ikewuruka and Michaella Tsimaloto Augustine, both Nigerian nationals residing in Dasmariñas City in Cavite.
He said the two were arrested by operatives from the PDEA National Capital Region and the QCPD Station 10 during an entrapment operation near the Amoranto Sports Complex on Roces Avenue at around 10 a.m.
Recovered from the suspects were 10 large ziplock plastic packets each containing a kilo of shabu with a market value of P68 million and the marked money paid to them by a poseur.
An orange Toyota Wigo with conduction sticker P1J227 used by the suspects to transport the illegal drugs was impounded by the PDEA.
The two West African nationals are now undergoing investigation at the PDEA national headquarters in Q.C. Both will be facing non-bailable charges for trafficking and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
