2 winners claim P1.18-B Ultra Lotto jackpot prize

THE two winners of the P1.18-billion Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot have finally claimed their prizes, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

A 33-year-old male nurse, who is married, has claimed the other half of the P1.18-billion prize last week, PCSO confirmed yesterday.

The jackpot winner, who works as contractual and also had other part-time jobs aside from nursing, went to the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City with his parents to claim his prize.

PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan, who personally turned over the cheque worth P472 million, minus taxes.

The winner bought the winning ticket from a mall in Legazpi City, Albay.

Earlier last week, the other half of the jackpot was claimed by a lucky bettor from Borongan, Eastern Samar.

The first claimant is a tricycle driver from Eastern Samar. He claimed his more than P472-million jackpot prize Tuesday last week.

The winner had to borrow money for fare to Manila from Borongan City, Eastern Samar to claim his prize on October 16.

The jackpot for the 6/58 Ultra Lotto draw, reaching P1,180,622,508, was the biggest in lotto history in the country.

This is the second time this year that two people won the Ultra Lotto 6/58 prize. Last February 16, two bettors shared the P331-million prize.

Ultra Lotto draws are held every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. To join, one must select six numbers from 1 to 58 or play Lucky Pick.
