3 nabbed for online sale of rapid test kits

POLICE arrested in an entrapment operation three online-sellers offering for sale rapid test kit for coronavirus (COVID)-19 Sunday afternoon in Makati City.

Makati police chief P/Col. Oscar Jacildo identified the arrested suspects as Catherine De Quiroz, 44, executive secretary of IKK Ichigan Inc. and resident of Sierra Niveda, Bgy. San Francisco, Gen. Trias, Cavite, sales executive of Century Medical Supplies Jason Hicban, 33, and Jiggier Bernales, 30, both residents of Camella East, Bgy. San Nicolas II Bacoor, Cavite.

Col. Jacildo said the suspects were arrested by joint elements of Makati Police Station Intelligence Section led by Capt. John Patrick Magsalos and Police Sub-Station 6 led by Capt. Judge Row Donato after they offered to sell through on-line selling from an undercover cop rapid test kits for COVID-19 at around 5:20 p.m. at POB Stacion located at the corner of Valdez St and Makati Avenue, Bgy. Poblacion.

Police recovered from the suspects one used highgtop one step rapid test, 119 sealed packs of highgtop one step rapid test, three empty boxes of rapid test kit, three plastic bottles of SARS-COV-2 specimen buffer and three packs of 40 disposable micro-sale pipettes with five latex caps and P2,000 marked money.

Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an advisory that online selling of FDA certified COVID-19 antibody test kits is strictly prohibited.
