FOUR men who were natives of Cotabato and Marawi in Mindanao were arrested after they yielded illegal drugs and guns at a police checkpoint Monday evening in Pasay City.
Southern Police District Director Chief Supt. Eliseo Cruz identified the suspects as Abdullah Tangote, 40, a businessman and his employees Salikaya Panday, 27; Pahiz Mando, 28; and Aner Adam, 41. The suspects were all residents of Block 21, Lot 22, Macaria Homes Subdivision, Molino 2, Bacoor City, Cavite.
Cruz said his men were manning a gun ban checkpoint at the corner of Lions Road and Taft Avenue, in Bgy. 87 when they flagged down a black Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicle (SUV) for routine inspection at around 10: 05 p.m.
The suspects were arrested after officers saw in plain view two caliber .45 pistols inside their SUV. A search of the vehicle also led to the recovery of six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
During interrogation, one of the suspects claimed that they had no knowledge that there were guns and drugs inside the SUV owned by a Bangladesh national and added that they were just invited to attend a special event at the warehouse and were asked to drove the vehicle.
One of them admitted to the police that they left two more firearms in front of the warehouse located at the corner of Taft Avenue and Raymundo Street which prompted the policemen to proceed to the area where they recovered a caliber . 45 and caliber .9mm pistols.
