FOUR Vietnamese tourists, including three women, were arrested when they tried to steal imported assorted clothes inside a high-end department store Friday evening in Makati City.

Makati police chief P/Col. Rogelio Simon said Doan Sy Trong, 37, Dao Thi Thy Trang, 39, Le Thi Ngoc Lan, 37 and their male companion Nguyen Thanh Tung, 21, all residents of Vietnam Embassy at 670 Ocampo St., Malate, Manila were arrested by alert security guards of H & M Store, Greenbelt 4 Mall, Ayala Center, Brgy. San Lorenzo after they tried to run off with assorted clothes worth P185,697 without paying.

Around 9 p.m., the suspects entered the clothing store inside Greenbelt 4 mall and moved around, bringing with them a large bag.

After several minutes, the guard noticed the suspects leaving the store without transacting with the cashier prompting him to follow them and seek the help of fellow security personnel.

When the guards saw the suspects transferring the contents of their bag to their luggage, they immediately accosted the foreigners and placed them under arrest when they failed to produce the necessary receipt for the items they took from the clothing store.

Col. Simon said the suspects wrapped the stolen assorted clothes with aluminum foil before placing it inside their bag to prevent the electronic alarm at the store’s exit door from alerting security.

Police filed theft charges against the Vietnamese nationals before the Makati City Prosector’s Office.
