5 more Pinoys hurt in Beirut

AN additional five Filipinos were added to the list of those injured in last week's twin explosion in Beirut bringing to 47 the total number of those treated for injuries, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) yesterday said.

"We are still thankful that the injuries sustained by our kababayans are not life-threatening. We also thank our Embassy personnel for taking prompt action," stated Undersecretary Sarah Lou Y. Arriola who is closely monitoring the progress on the ground.

The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Beirut,  prepares to bring home this week the mortal remains of four Filipinos who perished in the blasts.

Some 400 OFWs eager to come home to be with their families will also be repatriated via chartered flight arranged by the DFA.

"The repatriation of our kababayans from Lebanon is free. We maintain that the DFA - your DFA - works for you," added  Arriola.
