50 families left homeless, 30 houses razed in Tondo fire

FIRE razed to the ground about 30 houses in a residential area in Tondo, Manila yesterday morning, displacing at least 50 families.

The Manila Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire began at 6:16 a.m. at a three-storey residential house made of light materials.

The house is said to be owned by one Rey Bucacao and is located at 1842 Juan Luna St., Tondo, Manila.

The fire reached second alarm and was contained at 6:58 a.m. Its estimated damage to property is P300,000.  No one was killed or hurt in the said fire.

The arson division is investigating what caused the fire.

Meanwhile, Mayor Isko Moreno directed social welfare department chief Re Fugoso to extend all necessary assistance to the fire victims.
