ACTING on orders of Philippine National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, agents of the Philippine National Police Intelligence Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) seized over 50 banned ‘video-karera’ and fruit game machines in a string of raids in the southern and northern part of Metro Manila last Friday and Saturday, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
PNP-IMEG director, Colonel Ronald O. Lee, said that in coordination with NCRPO director, Major General Debold M. Sinas, they conducted the simultaneous raids following information from the PNP Directorate for Intelligence regarding the failure of some local police chiefs and station commanders in NCRPO to comply with Gen. Gamboa’s ‘no-take’ policy.
Appropriate administrative charges will be facing officers who failed to address illegal gambling activities in their areas including operations of ‘VK’ and ‘fruit game’ machines which have long been associated with illegal drug use, officials said.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. last Friday, Lee said that PNP-IMEG operatives conducted a string of operations in Muntinlupa City which led in the seizure of 12 ‘VK’ machines and 13 fruit game machines heavily-loaded with P1 coins.
The raided establishments were all under the area of operation of the Police-Community Precinct 2 and PCP 3 of the Muntinlupa City Police Station.
Lee said that the raids at the Muntinlupa City PCP2-supervised areas yielded the following ‘VK’ machines: Vivo Compound in Barangay Bayanan-2; San Guillermo Bayanan-2; Net Kappa Bayan-2; Sitio Robal in Bgy. Bayanan-4; Bgy. Putatan-6; Bgy. Bayanan-1; Sporlas Ibaba Putatan-2; NIA Road Putotan-1; and Soldiers’ Hills-1.
Recovered inside the Kelly Compound in Alabang which is under PCP3 were 44 ‘VK’ machines.
Lee said that the overall operator of the confiscated illegal gambling machines was identified as one ‘Madam Nely.’
Another raid in Caloocan City area between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. last Friday led in the confiscation of 2 ‘VK’ machines in Phase 8, North Caloocan which is under the jurisdiction of the Caloocan City PCP 3 and 2 ‘VK’ machines in Phase 1, North Caloocan which is under the jurisdiction of PCP5.
The overall operator of the raided machines was identified as one ‘Lorna/Lotlot.’ Lee said that arrested during the operations in Caloocan were two bettors identified as Leonardo Odon and Danilo Braza.
Another operation in Pasay City between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. last Saturday resulted in the seizure of 7 ‘fruit game’ machines in Salud Street which is under the jurisdiction of Pasay City PCP 1.
PNP-IMEG officers also seized 13 ‘fruit game machines and 2 ‘horse-racing’ video machines and 2 ‘VK’ machines in Humildad St. which is under the jurisdiction of Pasay City PCP2.
Lee said that 4 other ‘fruit game’ machines’ were also confiscated in Tramo St. in Pasay City which is under the jurisdiction of Pasay City PCP 3.
He said that the overall operator of the illegal gambling operations in Pasay City were identified as one alias’ PJ Ilong.’ Also arrested during those operations were the illegal gambling machine cashiers Juliet de la Cruz, Rusty Delima and Mark Anthony Eactaciom, bet collectors Renato Mingorio and Edward Cortes and bettor Paulo Takasin.
