55-year-old woman roasted alive in Taguig blaze

A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was killed after she was trapped on the second floor of her house that was hit by fire yesterday morning in Taguig City.

Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office officer Anna Niña Fortes identified the fatality as Belen Benedicto, 55, whose body was found on the rubble of her burned house located at Block 4 Lot 1 Sumasipat St. Bgy. Sta Ana.

The fire allegedly caused by short circuit started at around 8:45 a.m., forcing Benedicto to rescue her grandchildren and brought them outside but later returned inside the burning house to retrieve important documents.

However, due to thick smoke, she failed to get out and was trapped on the second floor of the house.

The fire reached first alarm before it was put out at around 10 a.m.
