6 MIAA couples tie knot

YESTERDAY marked another first in the history of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) as it sponsored the first ‘Kasalang Bayan’ at the Our Lady of the Airways Parish in Pasay City.

MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said the event is intended for airport workers who have never abandoned their dream of getting married under Catholic wedding rites.

Thus yesterday, six couples who have been living together for years finally tied the knot with no less than Monsignor Modesto Teston, the airport chaplain, officiating.

Monreal himself graced the wedding rites and the newlyweds were happy to have a posterity photo taken with him.

“Sagrado ang kasal. Ang payo ko sa kanila, ipagpatuloy ang kanilang pagmamahalan at ipagpatuloy ang kanilang mga nasimulan, putting Christ in the center of their union,” Monreal said.

‘I only saw unexplainable happiness beaming in the faces of the newlyweds and I am so lucky to be part of their special day’, he added.

Meanwhile, Lirio Lontoc, now Mrs. Lirio Blardony, a liaison officer in MIAA, was among those wed.

‘Sobrang happy ako kasi for 32 years dream ko talaga ang makasal sa simbahan. Iyon din ang pangarap ng aking mga anak,’ she said.

In her facebook post, Lirio wrote: “Civil marriage nuon, mass wedding ngayon. Happiest moment. Thank you Lord and to d staff of Miaa. GM Monreal thanks for the opportunity.” It was learned tht she now has seven children and three grandchildren by her husband Rene.

The newlywed couples who received the Sacrament of Matrimony were Rene and Felerio Blardony who have been together for 32 years; Gil and Marina Fernandez, 27 years; Rame and Maria Sally Belera, 24 years; Paul Jordan and Jericar Zaragoza, nine years; Reynaldo and Mylene Tanaman, five years and Anthony and Jennica Prades, seven months.
