72 illegal gamblers arrested, charged

SEVENTY-TWO persons involved in illegal gambling activities in Bangsamoro Administrative Region have been arrested and charged by the local police over the past two months, BAR police regional director, Brigadier General Marni C. Marcos Jr. said yesterday.

“The arrests were made from January 1 to last Saturday in line with our intensified campaign against all forms of illegal gambling activities and our strict ‘No Take Policy’ as ordered by PNP chief, General Archie Francisco Gamboa,” the official said.

Marcos has ordered all his officers and men to stop all forms of illegal gambling in the region and to see to it that they won’t be accepting bribes or perks from illegal gambling operators or be associated with them.

He also directed all PRO-BAR Police Provincial and City Offices, Municipal Police Stations and Regional and Provincial Mobile Force Battalions to sustain their anti-illegal gambling drive.
