8 students nabbed for trafficking ‘kush’

MEMBERS of the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested eight students who were found in possession of around 200 pieces of party drugs and several packs of high-grade marijuana or ‘kush’ worth P220,000 during a buy-bust operation Saturday in Malate, Manila.

Police identified the students as Adrielle Mercado, 21; Maico Estrella, 22; Jan Andre Sanchez, 18, and Matthew Reyes, 21. They were arrested in front of a fastfood chain restaurant on Taft Avenue near P. Ocampo Street at around 1 a.m.

A member of MPD- Ermita station drug enforcement unit posed as a buyer and bought five ecstasy tablets worth P5,000 from the suspects.  

Police said the suspects were selling drugs online. The confiscated ‘kush’ was said to have been shipped from California.

Meanwhile, at around 8 p.m. of the same day, another team from the Ermita Police Station arrested four other students who were caught in possession of two kilos of marijuana with a street value of P240,000.

The four were identified as Richmond Rey Palustre, 20; Ryan Glenn Zarandin, 20; Miguel Cardeña, 19, and Xanni Antonio, 18.

They were arrested during a buy-bust while their car was parked in front of a fastfood chain restaurant on C.M. Recto Avenue in Sampaloc. A poseur-buyer was able to buy from the suspects P10,000 worth of marijuana.

In Quezon City, two Saudi Arabian nationals were jailed after they were caught while having a drug session inside a bar yesterday morning on Tomas Morato.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Chief Superintendent Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the drug suspects as Adamhassan Ibrahim, 26, and Osama Shalup Dasaeed, 25, both residing at No. 19 D’ University Place Condominium, Leon-Guinto St., Malate, Manila.

It was learned that employees of the bar caught the two suspects while in the act of sniffing marijuana at about 6:45 a.m.

Patrolling policemen near the area were informed of the incident and immediately arrested the suspects.
