AKSYON Demokratiko held the mass ceremonial oath taking of its 2019 midterm election candidates led by its chairman former congressman Herminio Aquino yesterday at the Club Filipino in San Juan City.
Official candidates who took their oath include senatorial candidate former Solicitor General Pilo Hilbay, Pasig mayoral candidate Vico Sotto, congressional candidate Roman Romulo and Navotas congressional candidate Marielle del Rosario. Almost 50 candidates from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao also took their oaths as members of the party.
“The party has an outstanding lineup of hardworking public servants. Ako ay lubos na nagagalak sapagkat sa araw na ito, opisyal na naman na madadagdagan ang mga kasapi at kaagapay ng Aksyon Demokratiko sa pagpapatuloy ng pagsulong sa mga prinsipyong aming ipinaglaban. Hangad natin na masuportahan ang ating mga kandidato upang tuluyang mabigyan ng solusyon ang kahirapan at tuluyang tuldukan ang diskriminasyon,” said Aquino.
Aksyon’s vision of a ‘creative people in a self-reliant nation united under God’, the party’s core principles and legislative agenda was also shared by Aksyon VP for Education, Policy, and Research Leon FIores III. Adopted senatorial candidates who are also present during the event are Senator Bam Aquino, former House deputy speaker Erin Tanada and Atty. Chel Diokno who was represented by his sister, Menchie Diokno.
Meanwhile, Aksyon also endorsed senatorial candidates in the opposition ticket namely former Sen. Mar Roxas, Rep. Gary Alejano, Atty. Romulo Macalintal, Samira Gutoc and former senator Lito Lapid.
For party-list, the group endorsed Luntiang Pilipinas as represented by its first nominee, Mike Ubac and Wow Pilipinas represented by Robin Garcia. Aksyon Demokratiko was founded by the late Sen. Raul Roco in 1997 and has been the vanguard for democracy and peace in the country while advocating for honest governance and equal opportunity for all.
