American nabbed for sex crimes in US

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the recent arrest of an American who is wanted in his country for several counts of sexual offenses.

Identified as 49-year-old Christopher John Erickson, the alien was arrested last March 5 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU) under its head Bobby Raquepo.

Raquepo said that Erickson was arrested on the strength of a mission order issued by the BI following the request of the US authorities who sought the BI’s help in locating and arresting the fugitive.

The operations, said Raquepo, was conducted in coordination with the United States Diplomatic Security Service - Overseas Crminal Investigations (DSS-OCI) and Philippine National Police (PNP)-Dumaguete.

‘An arrest warrant was issued against Erickson last October by the Onondaga County Superior Criminal Court in Syracuse, New York,” Raquepo added.

Based on records, Erickson is wanted for Course of Sexual Conduct against a Child in the second degree, Sexual Abuse in the first degree, and Forcible Touching and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

‘He (Erickson) is an overstaying alien who poses risk to public security and safety. We will deport him and put him on the BI’s blacklist, permanently banning him from re-entering the country,” he added.
