ANOTHER former member of the Eastern Police District was arrested for malversation of government property after failing to return the Philippine National Police-issued firearm to him.
EPD director Police Brigadier General Christopher E. Tambungan said AWOL policeman Jimvi Eludo voluntarily himself over to the EPD District Intelligence Division following negotiations.
A record check showed that Eludo went on Absence without Official Leave status until he was dropped from the PNP rolls in 2014. Tambungan said the accused was reported to have worked in Dubai since then and returned to Manila only last March 7.
Eludo was the third former member of EPD to be arrested for their failure to return their issued firearms despite repeated summons and notices.
First to be arrest was Police Officer 3 Fernando Usita, an AWOL policeman since 2017 was arrested for his failure to return his issued caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
The second cop, PO3 Jesus de la Cruz was arrested at the Quezon City Police District Station 12 for his failure to return his issued M-16 automatic rifle since 2009.
A P36,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of each of the accused.
