OFFICIALS yesterday said the case of two active policemen who were accosted for violating President Duterte’s order barring them from drinking in public places should serve as a warning to all.
It’s also a reminder that counter-intelligence agents are working to identify and apprehend violators of the presidential order specifically those known for frequenting bars, nightclubs and similar public drinking places and establishments in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Senior Police Officer 1 Franklin Francisco Nariz and Police Officer 3 Tristan Bardon Callao were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Counter-Intelligence Task Force last Monday at Karabs Canteen in Bgy. Socorro just two blocks away from Camp Crame.
Interior and Local Governments Secretary Eduardo Año said the acts of the two policemen that defied the orders of President Duterte not to drink in public places, constitute grave misconduct punishable by dismissal from the service.
Ano commended the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Counter Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) for arresting the two “drinking cops”.
PNP spokesman Senior Supt. Bernard M. Banac said the PNP chief has reiterated his previous directive and stern warning to all members of the police force to always conduct themselves in a disciplined and professional manner that would enhance the public image of the police and not tarnish it.
