ONE of the two alleged members of “Basag-Kotse” gang was killed when they tried to engage lawmen in a shootout during hot pursuit operation before dawn yesterday in Parañaque City.

The still unidentified suspect, described as about 30-35 years old sustained bullet wounds in the body, killing him instantly while his cohort managed to escape on board a black motorcycle without plate number.

Parañaque police chief Senior Supt. Rogelio “Jojo” Rosales said that earlier, complainant Victor Vargas, of Blk. 1 Lot 14, Barcelona St., Camella Townhomes, Bgy. San Antonio told police that he parked his Toyota Hi Lux (ZFF-557) along Sucat Road to get his things inside his house.

When he returned, he noticed that the car window was smashed and his black portfolio containing bank passbooks and other pertinent documents were missing, prompting him to seek police assistance.

At around 3:20 a.m., elements of Paranaque Police Community Precinct (PCP) 5 and Intelligence Unit who conducted hot pursuit operations chanced upon the suspects along Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Valley 1, Bgy. San Antonio in front of Bandara Spa.

When policemen tried to approach the suspects, the duo drew their respective firearms and fired towards the approaching lawmen who immediately retaliated.

After a brief exchange of firefight, one of the suspects was hit in the body prompting his cohort to escape.

Police recovered from the slain suspect the victim’s bag, helmet and unknown caliber of firearm.
