THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) offices will remain on skeletal deployment following the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
It was learned from BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval that the BI had scaled down operations significantly, following the closure of many international airports, as well as quarantine measures being implemented in the country.
The skeletal deployment meanwhile is in compliance with the directives from Malacanang to be able to ensure that BI personnel practice social distancing and lessen the risks of further spreading Covid-19.
With regard to foreign nationals who have opted to remain in the country, the BI advised them to stay indoors during the quarantine period.
Should their visas expire during the ECQ, they may opt to file for extensions thirty days after the lifting of the quarantine period and no penalties will be charged.
