A 13-year-old boy who was reportedly suffering from headache and stomach pain was found floating in the river Monday afternoon in Valenzuela City.
The body of Grade 9 student Jedrick Cajipe, of 574 H. Bautista St., Arkong Bato was fished out by personnel of Valenzuela Disaster Risk and Rescue Management Operation (VDRRMO) at around 4:24 p.m. along Polo River Wall in Planters Avenue, Bgy. Isla after he was seen drowning by witness Leo Maso at around 11 a.m.
Prior to the incident, the victim’s mother Daisy Cajipe told Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Carlito Gaces that his son was already complaining of headache and stomach pain Monday before dawn and vomitted six times but refused to be treated.
At around 10:45 a.m., Mrs. Cajipe said her son left without her knowledge and was seen at the footage of close circuit television (CCTV) camera in their barangay while roaming along M.H. Del Pilar St., Bgy. Arkong Bato.
She said she was shocked when someone sent a picture of the lifeless body of her son to her daughter on social media prompting her to proceed to Fern Funeral where the body of the victim was brought by VDRRMO.
Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine if there was foul play in the incident.
