A man engaged in buy and sell business was arrested after he introduced himself as a police officer at a police checkpoint Sunday afternoon in Malabon City.
Arvin Busa, 24, of Blk. 9, Lot 31, Bgy. Tañong, was charged with usurpation of authority and simple disobedience before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office when he failed to present proof that he was a legitimate member of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Malabon police chief Senior Supt. Jessie Ta-mayao said elements of Malabon Police Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU) were conducting police checkpoint at the corner of Gen. Luna and Sacristia Sts. in Bgy. San Agustin at around 3 p.m. when they chanced upon Busa, who was riding a motorcycle but not wearing a helmet.
When policemen flagged him down, he continued to move slowly, while introducing himself as a police officer assigned at Camp Crame.
However, elements of TMRU forced him to stop and when asked to show his PNP ID, he failed to produce any, prompting lawmen to subject him to a body search, which led to the confiscation of his pellet gun tucked to his waist and a handcuff in his back.
