Camp Crame ‘hotel’ now quarantine area for cops

THE Kiangan Billeting Center in Camp Crame, a mini-hotel built to accommodate police officers and men from the provinces has been converted into a quarantine area for police personnel who are considered Persons Under Monitoring or Persons Under Investigation for COVID-19, officials said yesterday.

PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa said he has approved the recommendation of PNP Health Service director, Brigadier Gen. Herminio S. Tadeo Jr. to open the Kiangan Center for policemen who have been ordered to undergo self-quarantine.

The KBC now offers 43 rooms with free board and lodging, free food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and also other free services such as Wi-fi connection, said PNP spokesman, Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac.

"This iniatiative is still part of the organization's Biosafety Plan, helping our PUIs and PUMs personnel to have a place where they can stay without worrying about the rent fee and their meal while in quarantine,"Banac explained.

According to the latest COVID 19 data from the PNP-HS, a total of 145 PNP personnel composed of 25 Police Commissioned Officers, 115 Police Non-Commissioned Officers and 5 Non-Uniformed Personnel have been recommended as PUIs while another 1,416 composed of 268 PCOs, 1,086 PNCOs and 62 NUPs have been listed as PUMs.

As of last Monday, the PNP said another four male  police personnel have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of police personnel infected to seven.

The four more confirmed cases were all assigned in Metro Manila with ages 53,52, 47 and 46 .
