A CARPENTER landed in jail after stabbing his housemate in Sta. Mesa, Manila the other day.

Santiago Navarra, 46, of No. 3525 C. Mapa Extension, Sta. Mesa, Manila, was detained at the Manila Police District-Sta. Mesa Station detetion cell before he was charged with attempted homicide before the Manila City Prosecutor's Office.

The victim, identified as Junrey Bini, 29, was treated at the Tondo Medical Center and is now recovering.

Police said that incident took place at  around 3 p.m. on Saturday inside the house where both the suspect and the victim live as renters.

Navarra was said to be drunk when he entered the room of Bini and confronted him about the loss of electrical power in his room.

Police said an argument ensued where the suspect threatened to kill Bini and left.

Moments later, Bini saw Navarra going down the stairs and tried to assist him since he was reeking of liquor. It was then that the suspect stabbed him in the left leg and stomach and then went back to his room.

Though wounded, Bini managed to go to the barangay hall and seek help so he could be brought to the nearest hospital. Navarra was then arrested by authorities.
