Chinese nat’l rescued, 3 KFR compatriots held

AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group on Saturday rescued unharmed a kidnapped Chinese national and arrested three of his compatriots who were accused of involvement in the abduction inside the Okada Resort and Casino in Parañaque City, PNP-AKG director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo announced yesterday.

In a report to PNP chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the PNP-AKG director identified the rescued kidnapping-for-ransom victim as Li Zi Hong while those arrested were Huang Ya Jian, Liang Bin and Li Wei.

Seized from the suspects were several marked bills, mobile phones and other valuables belonging to the victim.

The three suspects are  all believed to be working for a casino loan shark syndicate which has gained notoriety in the country for employing Chinese gangsters tasked to abduct and torture Chinese casino players who borrowed money from them but failed to immediately pay their debt complete with huge daily interests.

Estomo said that the anti-kidnapping rescue operation was conducted inside the post Okada casino-hotel at 1:45 a.m. last Saturday following information provided to their office by the hotel’s operations manager.

He said that a team of PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit operatives led by Lieutenant Colonel Villaflor Bnnawagan and Major Erving Chan rescued the victim and arrested the suspects who are now being held at the PNP-AKG headquarters in Camp Crame facing criminal charges for kidnapping-for-ransom with serious illegal detention.

Estomo also announced the arrest of two men found in possession of illegal firearm and drugs by members of the AKF Mindanao Field Unit headed by Col. Alex Fulgar during an entrapment operation around 2:20 p.m. last Saturday.
