A SUSPECTED leader of a gang involved in gun-for-hire and illegal weapons trafficking activities in Metro Manila was captured by agents of the National Capital Region Office of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during an operation in Quezon City on Monday, a report to PNP-CIDG director, Major General Amador V. Corpus said yesterday.
CIDG-NCR chief, Lieutenant Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay identified the arrested suspect as Franco Ladion alias ‘Gutang,’ tagged as a leader of a syndicate which has gained notoriety for its involvement in gun-for-hire activities and illegal trade of firearms in the eastern part of Metro Manila and its nearby provinces.
According to Ibay, members of the Central Metro Manila District Field Unit arrested the suspect inside his house in Hopeful Street in Barangay Silangan, Q.C. which they raided at 2:40 p.m. last Monday on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya of the Q.C. Regional Trial Court Branch 88.
The CIDG-NCR chief said that his men recovered one caliber .45 pistol with serial no. 1849007, two .45 magazines with 14 live ammunition and a gun bag inside the suspect’s residence.
Ibay said that they are still investigating the previous criminal activities of the suspect who is now being held at the CIDG Q.C. jail facility.
