Cops gun down Sampaloc kagawad

AGENTS of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit yesterday shot dead a barangay councilman in Manila wanted for his illegal drug trafficking activities following a shootout, NCRPO chief, Police Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said.

The official identified the slain suspect as Ronnie Labongray Jr.,  a councilman of Bgy. 561 in Sampaloc, Manila who was arrested in 2017 by members of the Manila Police District for violation of Republic Act 9165.

However, the case filed against him was dismissed by the court and he was released from jail in 2018. The offense carries the penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million.

Eleazar said that the slain suspect was included on the ‘narco-list’ of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and is believed to be engaged in drug trafficking activities in Manila and Quezon cities.
