Cops seize P10.2M shabu in Pateros sting

COMBINED agents of the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and the Southern Police District on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 65-year old suspected big-time drug trafficker in Metro Manila after he sold some P10.2 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer in Pateros, NCRPO director, Major General Guilermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said.

The official identified the arrested suspect as Angelo Reyes,  a resident of Alley 22 in Barangay Sta. Ana in Pateros.

Eleazar said that members of the NCRPO-RDEU and the Pateros Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested the suspect during the buy-bust operation 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Recovered during the sting were 14 plastic packets each containing 100 grams of shabu, 15 plastic sachets containing around 100 grams of shabu, a weighing scale, bundles of empty plastic sachets and the P1 million worth of boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The drugs recovered from the suspect’s possession weighed a total of 1,500 grams which has a market value of P10.2 million.

A Toyota Altis used by the suspect to transport the drugs was impounded by the NCRPO, Eleazar said.

“We are looking into reports that the suspect is connected with a group of Chinese nationals involved in large-scale illegal drug trafficking activities in Metro Manila and Laguna province,” the official said.

Eleazar said that non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspect.
