THE decomposing body of a man was found inside an abandoned vehicle Sunday night in Caloocan City.
The unidentified victim, described as about 30 to 40 years old, 5’3” in height, wearing white T-shirt, gray jogging pants and with “koi fish” image tattooed on the right arm and on his right and left chest the image of a man, was discovered inside a gray Suzuki Ertiga (ADA-5481) parked along Phase 12 Highway, Riverside, Bgy. 188, Tala.
Witness Danilo Mariano told police that when he parked his driven utility jeep at 7 p.m., he noticed a foul odor emanating from the vehicle which has been unattended since Friday at 6:30 a.m., prompting him to report the incident to Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4.
When authorities, led by PO3 Ruel Montero, opened the vehicle, they saw the body of the victim lying on the floor of the passenger seat covered by floor mat while his face was wrapped with packaging tape.
Investigators recovered inside the vehicle a black sling bag containing Samsung J2 cellphone, I-Robot cellphone, blue wallet, BDO ATM card and driver’s license under the name of John Jay Evangelista, 37, of 271 P. Gomez St., Caloocan City.
Police said they also found a photocopy of official receipt and certificate of registration of the vehicle registered under Hazel Roque Evangelista, of 51K Ville Twin Homes, Sunville, Tandang Sora, Quezon City, inside the dashboard compartment.
Northern Police District (NPD) director Chief Supt. Rolando Anduyan has ordered a deeper probe into the incident.
