Dota game addict stabs shop caretaker

“ADDICTION is not limited to drugs but  other common activities such as computer games”can also be addictive.

Thus said Navotas Police chief Senior Supt. Rolando Balasabas after his men arrested a computer addict who stabbed and seriously wounded a computer shop caretaker yesterday before dawn in Navotas City.

Jerry Eloy Soriano, 38, of Tabing-Dagat, in Bgy. Daanghari, was rushed to Tondo Medical Center for treatment of stab wounds in the body.

The suspect identified as Emilio Ruiz, 31, also a resident of Tabing-Dagat, was arrested in a follow-up operation by elements of Navotas police Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB). A blood-stained 11-inch knife was  recovered from him.

Investigation showed that at around 12:10 a.m., Ruiz went to the computer shop located at Block 40, Lot 2, at Tabing-Dagat, Daanghari and asked the victim to allow him to play his favorite online Dota game.

However, the victim refused and told him that it was already closing time for the shop but the suspect insisted resulting in their heated argument.

At the height of their altercation, the suspect drew a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the body.

The wounded victim managed to run and seek the help of policemen who rushed him to the hospital.
