Druggie trader kills 2 in shooting rampage inside San Juan residence

A businessman allegedly under the influence of illegal drugs went on a shooting rampage inside his residence leaving two dead including his brother and wounding another in San Juan City Tuesday night.

In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director PBrig. Gen Christopher Tambungan, San Juan Police chief, PCol. Ariel R. Fulo identified the suspect as Roberto Banez, 59,  was arrested after the shooting rampage.

Fulo said Banez shot dead his brother one Catalino Banez, 63, and a US citizen, and Ma. Theresa Antiquera, therapist.

Catalino Banez died on the spot while Antiquera was pronounced dead at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, both due to gunshot wounds in the body.

Victim Rhea Antonio, 33 stay-in nurse was wounded and treated at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

According to Fulo the shooting spree happened at the house of Banez at No 242 Barasoain Street, Bgy. Little Baguio at around 8:30 p.m.

Prior to the incident, the victims were watching television when the suspect suddenly arrived and without any reason shot them several times.

The suspect was not in good condition and looked totally under the influence of illegal drugs when he arrived home.

Police said, Antonio was able to able run out of the house despite being wounded and sought help from San Juan Police . Teams from Special Reaction Unit (SRU) to responded immediately.

The suspect allegedly exchanged fire with the responding cops, who used tear gas to enter the house and get the suspect.

Police recovered a 12 gauge shotgun, a 45  caliber and 22 caliber revolver.

Fulo said the suspect was a surrenderee under Oplan Tokhang.

The suspect is now detained and facing charges of murder and direct assault.
