THE Mandaluyong Police yesterday said that the millionaire businessman who was killed in an ambush on EDSA in Mandaluyong City was the former housing adviser of then President now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
Jose Luis Yulo, 62, was once dragged into the “Boracay Mansion” controversy in New Manila, Quezon City. The “Boracay Mansion” was one of several presidential mansions exposed in the investigation against Estrada who allegedly rented the property from Yulo who had reportedly bought it from the Madrigal family.
Mandaluyong Police Chief Senior Supt. Moises Villaceran Jr. said Yulo had several cases of violation of BP 22 in various regional trial courts.
“We have to coordinate with the trial courts where the cases that were pending to get the names of the complainants and other details,” Villaceran said. He added that the victim had filed charges of grave threat against an unidentified individual but the case was settled by both parties.
The Police are also investigating why the slain businessman was carrying a gun despite the gun ban.
