MAJOR General Gullermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, the newly-designated Chief Directorial Staff of the Philippine National Police,  yesterday said his goodbye to the officers and men of the National Capital Region Police Office as well as the media which covered his activities without let-up for the past 16 months.

The member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Hinirang’ Class of 1987 said he has mixed emotions on his promotion as the PNP’s 4th highest official, a post which will earn him his 3rd-star and make him a real contender for the top PNP post to be vacated soon by General Oscar D. Albayalde.

“Mixed emotions, nalulungkot ako unang-una dahil sa talagang for 16 months eh nakasanayan ko na ‘yung aking mga ginagawa,” he said as he described his promotion as a “career growth” and acknowledged the PNP leadership and the Duterte government for their full trust and confidence in him.

“It’s just career growth. All of us in our career eh gusto natin ma-promote and clearly from regional director of the NCRPO with the rank of  two-star, yung pagtatalaga sa akin pagtitiwala na ibibigay ay para maging Chief Directorial Staff na may commensurate na ranggo na three-star is a promotion for me,” he explained.

Eleazar said “today marks the end of my stint as Regional Director of NCRPO. It was a challenging ride all the way, made joyful mostly because my media friends joined me every step of the way.

“It was you, my media friends who let the public know that there are now men in police uniform that they can trust and turn to for their reports, requests and redresses. It is this that I value and thank you so much for,” he added.

The official will be replaced by his mistah, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas, a seasoned operations and intelligence officer whose last successful assignment was Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas.

“As I leave the reins of Team NCRPO in capable hands, let me assure you that as the Chief of the Directorial Staff, I will always keep an observant eye over Metro Manla, as it remains to be the show window of our country. I trust that you, our media friends will continue to push what you had started -- the strong interaction between the public and their police. It is the best formula for peace and order, and you play a vital role. Thank you my friends,” he said.
