A family driver was arrested for allegedly stealing P505,000 worth of jewelry from his employer in Pandacan, Manila.
Subjected to inquest proceedings at the Manila Prosecutor’s Office was suspect Norvondo Banngit, 55, of No. 2587 Lamayan St., Sta. Ana, Manila. He was charged with qualified theft.
P/Major Ed Pama of the Manila Police District-theft and robbery section said that based on a complaint filed by victim Adelina Enriquez, 67, of Pres. Quirino Avenue, Pandacan, Manila, the suspect was identified based on a footage taken by the closed circuit television (CCTV) of Barangay 851, Zone 93. There, the suspect was reportedly seen entering the complainant’s home at the time when she said she had lost her jewelry.
According to a probe by investigator P/Corporal Serafin Galpo, Jr., the incident took place last Sunday at around 8 a.m., while the victim was attending Mass with her helper.
When the victim returned home to change clothes, she was surprised to discover that her jewelry were all gone. She reported the matter to the barangay.
During a review of the CCTV footage covering the area, the suspect was seen entering the victim’s house while she was not there.
The suspect was thus nabbed by the Penafrancia Police Community Precinct (PCP) and then turned over to the MPD-TRS, where police said he admitted to the crime and eventually admitted having sold the jewelry he stole at the Arranque Market in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
