Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has committed to support the cause of labor workers in the country, as the Manila executive said he will guide the millions of workers for good interests and the development of the country.
The mayor made the statement after the Nagkakaisang Mamumuo sa Suyapa Farm (NAMASUPA)-NAFLU-KMU thanked Mayor Estrada for allowing them to temporarily take shelter at the Liwasang Bonifacio during a protest rally seeking salary increases and labor benefits.
The labor group has already left and returned to their province after a successful meeting with Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
In a letter, the NAMASUPA-NAFLU-KMU expressed the gratitude to Manila Mayor Estrada for allowing them to use a portion of Liwasang Bonifacio park where the group put up a tent and stayed for almost 3 months while conducting a dialogue with the labor department.
“Your support is a big help to us while we are seeking a dialogue with the DoLE,” the labor group said.
Mayor Estrada said that it is his mandate to provide workers with a more level playing field for their negotiations with employers.
